What each Edexcel GCSE Geography A paper assesses
Edexcel GCSE Geography A (specification 1GA0) is assessed by three written papers. Paper 1, The Physical Environment, and Paper 2, The Human Environment, carry 37.5% each; Paper 3, Geographical Investigations, carries 25% and examines fieldwork and UK challenges. Geographical, mathematical and statistical skills are examined across all three. A student chooses two of the three UK landscapes on Paper 1 and either energy or water resource management on Paper 2. On Paper 3 they answer on one physical fieldwork investigation, rivers or coasts, and one human investigation, a central or inner urban area or rural settlements.
