What each AQA A-Level Geography paper assesses
AQA A-Level Geography (specification 7037) is assessed by two written papers and a fieldwork investigation. Component 1 covers physical geography and Component 2 human geography, each examined for 2 hours 30 minutes, each worth 120 marks and 40 per cent. Component 3 is an individual investigation of 3,000 to 4,000 words, marked by teachers and moderated by AQA, worth 60 marks and 20 per cent. Both written papers carry options: on Component 1 a student picks one landscape option of three and one of Hazards or Ecosystems under stress, and on Component 2 one option of three.
